European Derivatives Overhaul Still A Long Way Off - Lobby Groups

European Union finance ministers made steps this week toward overhauling the regulation governing the over-the-counter derivatives market, but lobbyists say there is still a long way to go. In a meeting Tuesday, a compromise was reached that addressed the reservations of some ministers about the exact role of the European Securities and Markets Authority, whose job it will be to authorize and supervise so-called central counterparty clearing houses across Europe.
