Trading Automation is ‘Strangling’ Small Caps

The rapid growth of “high-frequency” trading and a fall in the number of market makers willing to put money behind UK small and mid-cap stocks is part of a “slow strangulation of the ecosystem” for supporting such companies, a survey of fund managers warns.
