Europe: New Trading Venues Aim to Provide Choice of Structures

The European Commission last month unveiled its keenly awaited final proposals for a sweeping overhaul of the region’s equities, derivatives and fixed income markets. The document, known as the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (Mifid), contained details of how Brussels believes over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives trading should evolve and is part of Europe’s vision for new market structures.
