What the SEC Is Doing to Prevent Another Financial Crisis

The Securities and Exchange Commission has the task of writing many of the regulations aimed at preventing another financial crisis. Mary Schapiro, the SEC's chairman, talked about how those efforts are coming with Francesco Guerrera, The Wall Street Journal's Money & Investing editor. She also touched on the agency's enforcement actions growing out of the crisis, as well as efforts to give more power to shareholders. Here are edited excerpts of their conversation.
