April 12: CFTC & FDIC Hosting Meetings on Margin Requirements for Swaps

The CFTC rescheduled its meeting on the 13^th series of rules on margin requirements for swaps under Dodd-Frank to April 12, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. EDT.  The meeting will be expanded to cover additional amendments from the original meeting, including margin requirements for uncleared swaps for swap dealers and major swap participants, and amendments to 17 CFR Parts 1,5,7,8,15,18,21,36,41,140,145,155, and 166 resulting from the Dodd-Frank Act.

Additionally, the FDIC board is meeting at 10:00 a.m. EDT the same day to consider a proposal on margin and capital requirements for swap dealers and major swap participants. More specifically, a “Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to Implement Sections 731 and 764 of the Dodd-Frank Act.”
